REAL SQL Server

After more than a year of hard work I am very proud to announce that the REAL SQL Server (was SQLiteServer) is now available.

I'll post technical documents, information and tips and tricks about "my baby" in this blog. More information about the server are available at REAL Software.

  • So far I really like it. I have been in the beta program so I have been using it for a month or so. I have to be honest and say that the pricing is much higher than I anticipated and will prevent me from using it in a project. My project is selling for about $500.00 so I can't use a server that costs that much for each installation. Anyway, your work on the server is excellent and I am very impressed. My fear is the pricing will severely cripple the number of units that are sold. Surely a developer pricing model can be introduced so that we can resell the server along with our custom solutions.

  • Well ... RS decided the price and for all the features and easy of use it has it seems a fair price. I can understand your concerns but there are so many hidden powerful features in the server that I am sure it really worths every penny it costs. If you want to resell the server within your project I strongly suggest you to contact RS because I am sure they can have a good proposal for you.

  • I will contact RS regarding deployment with a custom solution. Once again, I want you to know that the server is simple, fast and I am very impressed with it. Congratulations on your hard work and I wish you much success with the project!

  • If a large file, 1 meg or so, is stored in a BLOB column and the client is connected to the server over the internet, would it be faster to compress the file before storing in a record? In other words, does the client automatically compress data before it travels to the server?

  • Thanks a lot xbww I really appreciate.

You do not need to take care about compressing your BLOB data because the client automatically compress data before it travels to the server.
